Blogs, Lies and Race Reports: 18-19 August

This past weekend was for many the last weekend of the Mid-Atlantic Road Racing Season. Sure, there are a few options remaining out there, but they are in a distinct minority compared to all the hugs, kisses and final farewells as the roadies said goodbye to one another for another off-season (until they all turn into ‘cross junkies in a few weeks!). But tender words and knowing looks don’t mean the racing was hotly contested! To the contrary, it would seem everyone out there was more interested in securing those last few upgrade points than sending each other off in loving fashion. Here’s how some of the action played out…

  • For the ladies of CAWES Racing it was less about goodbyes and more about “welcome back hugs” as their PorkChop (do any of them have real names?) came back on the scene just in time for the last race.
  • When a column is entitled “FTW,” there’s not much point in reading it (Spoiler Alert! They won!). But u-neak | DESIGNS ventured out in their new kits and pretty much seem to have showed the rest of the MABRA teams how to race.
  • I won’t say why you have to read all the way to the bitter end of this race report, but Patrick Blair really did have an “Adventure for the Cure” at the Hampshire 100. And, of course, by “adventure for the cure,” I mean he “started shivering.” (and that’s not normal.)
  • Yes, I know this one is a bit late, but it was all about “regulating” (is that some sort of code I don’t know or a play on the reality of “relegation?”) at the Tour of Millersburg for Illadel Velo. Must’ve worked: she features a money shot!
  • For Joseph A. Bank it was a week filled with Time Trials. Fortunately his wife didn’t crash out the car riding alongside him, into traffic, with the kids, taking pictures of him. Good times.

I’m feeling pretty low about the summer race season coming to an end. So if you can point me to some more great blogs, I’d be much obliged. If they tell lies about races, I might even feature them here! So send them to me and I’ll check them out.
